Neighborhood Book Club

Reading in the Pandemic

During Spring Break 2021, we initiated a book club in the neighborhood. The book club meets up at 6 pm three to six times a week.  Our meetings are a great opportunity for kids to practice their public speaking skills, interact with their peers, and nurture their confidence. It was well-received by the neighbors! The kids have shared more than 240 books in two months!

Summer Book Club 2023

The Palo Alto Students Foundation is hosting a summer book club in 2023 for kids 10 - 12 years old.  We will meet up at Mitchell Park Library at 10am - 11:30 am biweekly from Jun 17th - September 16th. The kids are free to share a book of their choice during the first meeting. Then, they will follow our reading list for the following weeks. Each child will get a chance to present their perspective of the book and discuss it in a group of 8 - 10 kids. Our meetings are a great opportunity for kids to practice their public speaking skills, interact with their peers, and nurture their confidence. The book club will be hosted by a rising freshman at UCLA and a couple of adult volunteers.
